Power hungry Ex-Ministers arrange special prayers | | | Peerzada Ummer
Early Times Report
Srinagar, Feb 3: With end in the present stalemate seems to no near in Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP-Congress ministers continue to keep their fingers crossed- wishing to witness 'honorable' instead of the 'former'. Close aids of several Ministers divulged that the present stalemate is making the situation worrisome for several Ministers of Mufti's cabinet who have been rendered powerless due to the imposition of Governor's rule and the present deadlock- the end of which seems no near. "From being addressed as honorable, they are being termed as former ministers. This is something which isn't going well with their ego," says a close confidant of one of the ministers of the recent coalition. He maintained that the ministers continuously keep recalling the old days when they used to enjoy every luxury of the power and used to be the kingmakers in the ministers they used to head. With terming it just a bad luck, some ministers hope for the better days ahead. "There are few who curse their luck for losing power, others just hope that there is always a second time," says one of the ministers close aid. Furthermore, it is being discussed widely at present that the respect which the ministers used to receive from the officials of the administration is no longer existent. Sources privy to the latest discussions taking place within the helmsmen reveal that the former ministers continue to claim that the senior officials of the administration no longer receive their phone calls and virtually are avoiding them at present. If reports are to be believed, some ministers (former) are arranging special prayers in their homes, praying to achieve the honor and prestige back. They want the deadlock to end and the Government formed at an earliest. Pertinently, speaking her mind for the first time in a month on Tuesday, the PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti called for "new confidence-building measures for Jammu and Kashmir" and the renewal of her party's alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Her decision not to form the Government has injected political uncertainty into Jammu and Kashmir. It has put a question mark over the alliance between her People's Democratic Party (PDP) and the BJP. The regional PDP feels betrayed by the BJP for not honoring its political and economic commitments made in the state ten months ago, when the alliance was formed. Meanwhile, the latest developments unfolding in Kashmir's political landscape is only adding to the worries of the ministers at present. With sometimes they being sure of achieving what was their few days back, there are moments when they are scared of losing everything. Those who were arrogant with their supporters in the past are being ridiculed, condemned and cornered. What is in store for this lot- only time is going to tell. |
