Police busts JeM module, arrests 03 OGWs in Handwara | "A major threat has been averted with the busting of this module: SP | | S.Tahir-ul Haq Early Times Report KUPWARA, Feb 3: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday busted an Over Ground Workers (OGWs) network of the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant outfit here in Handwara area of north Kashmir. According to top police official that, " The OGW network, which was operating since April 2015, was involved in various subversive activities and determined to target political workers, security force installations and police establishments in Kupwara district of north Kashmir. They OGWs were identified as Ghulam Nabi Lone alias Prince Son of Abdul Rehman resident of Udipora Langate, Umar Mushtaq Mir son of Mushtaq Ahmad resident of Yaroo Langate and Ishfaq Ahmad Parray son of Ghulam Ahmad Parray resident of Mandigam Handwara, official told Early Times. The official said that, "These workers were active in various parts of Handwara, and they were providing logistic support to the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militants and were close associates of a top commander of JeM. However the police claim that the trio was working on pulling of a major incident in Handwara and said that a major threat had been averted with the busting of this module. Superintendent of Police (SP) Ghulam Jeelani told early times that, "three people have been arrested today who were working as on over ground workers (OGWs) for Jaish-e- Mohmmad, and they were close associates of Top Commander of JeM who is operating from this area. They were involved in various attacks like in Telecommunication and on police parties, adding before few weeks another OGW was arrested namely Wahid, and on January 18, one OGW was apprehended by a joint team of police and army in Sagipora area, said SP. Meanwhile it is pertinent to mention here that, "on January 18 over ground worker (OGW) of Al-Badar militant outfit was arrested in Handwara area. Police official said that, "Acting on a tip off information about the movement of Anti-National Elements (ANEs) in the Handwara area. A joint team of police along with 27RR Army laid a Naka at Sagipora Crossing. During checking one suspect who tried to hide himself and give slip to the Naka party on the spot was later identified as Bashir Ahmad Dar resident of Pohru Peth, an over ground worker (OGW) of Al-Badar militant Outfit. He said that, "One Chinese Pistol and some ammunition were recovered from his possession. A case FIR number 14/2016 under section 7/25 arms act was registered in Police Station Handwara. |
