GDC Kalakote sans permanent faculty 2/3/2016 10:30:40 PM Early Times Report Rajouri, Feb 3: Only less than 3 months are left for the final examinations of degree classes but the State Government / Higher Education Department has failed to provide permanent faculty at government Degree College at Kalakote in Rajouri District. All the eleven post of permanent Assistant Professors (sanctioned) are lying vacant. Only Principal is on permanent posting while out of 11 posts of Assistant Professors sanctioned 9 were filled on academic arrangements that too after few months of beginning of current academic session. As the College is having no building and the classes are being conducted in four rooms of a higher secondary school, the science subjects couldn't be introduced even after 5 years of college establishment. According to College Principal , the land for the construction of the college building was identified but after some objections by the local population the idea was abandoned. "As there was a local dispute about the identified land for the college building, the idea was abandoned. Following pressure from the people and after the issue of college building was raised several times in the Minister's meetings, a committee was constituted to identify the land " said Shabir Ahmed Bhat, Deputy Commissioner. He added that the committee has identified land for college building at 2-3 places and its report has been forwarded to the authorities of Higher Education Department for further action/approval. "In the absence of proper class rooms , toilet complex and other basic facilities the students especially girls are facing many difficulties" said a student.
