Srinagar, Feb 3: The Divisional Authorities have directed deputy commissioners to file status and Action Taken Report (ATR) in connection with allegations that property of Kashmiri migrant pandits have been encroached or damaged or sold in the Kashmir valley. The directions followed after a group of migrant pandits approached the Supreme Court (SC) alleging that 28 properties have been encroached, damaged or sold in Kashmir valley. The Apex court has sought report from the state government, an official spokesperson said here today. He said following the SC order, the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon reviewed the status of properties of migrant Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley. Dr Samoon was informed that a group of Pandits have approached the SC with complaints that their properties have allegedly been encroached, damaged or sold. The J&K's summer capital Srinagar tops the list with 12 such cases followed by eight in Budgam, four in Kulgam, two in Baramulla and one each in Ganderbal and Pulwama, the spokesperson said. Dr Samoon directed the concerned Deputy Commissioners (DCs) through video-conferencing to file status reports on the matter along with the action taken report so that the apex court could be apprised about the issue, he added. |
