Landslide, cloud burst warning scare people | | | Early Times Report Banihal, Mar 13: Continued rainfall and snow for the past three days in upper reaches of Banihal mountains has caused a dip in temperaturre. The fresh snow fall in upper reaches increased the cold wave in the region which forced the people to wear warm clothes and use of kashmiri Kangari. The inclement weather in the area create panic among the people. The chances of land slides and cloud bursts has caused a scare in the ares. Yesterday a house was damaged in Neel area of Banihal and four more houses damaged partially in Kharpora and Singam village of Pogal Banihal 14 people rescued safely from these houses. As per communication received by the District Administration , Ramban from Ministery of Home Affairs, New Delhi of adverse weather forecast indicating heavy rainfall and thunder showers. District Administration Ramban has issued warning related to adverse weather this evening and tomorrow with indication of heavy rainfall which may lead to landslides, avalanche and Sporadic cloudburst are also not ruled out. General public has been advised to remain alert in next 24 hours.The maximum link roads of the district are still closed due to land slides and stones come down on roads. Convened officials said that the continue rains creats hurdels in their work for the clear the link roads. It is pertinent to mention that the vehicular movement of traffic on Jammu Srinagar highway was continue despite the rains. The executing and road clearance agencies have stand by their men and machionary on highway to clear the debris for smooth passage of traffic. |
