Modi Govt hardens stand on Govt formation in JK | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 13: The Modi Government has reportedly hardened its stand on the 'conditions' put forth by the PDP on the government formation in J&K. Sources said it's for this reason that Home Minister didn't hold any talk about the government formation with Governor NN Vohra when the latter called on him on Saturday. "The Modi government is now of the view that since all issues on the government formation were decided with the former CM Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and it's for keeping view of his sensitivities that items like holding talks with separatists and AFSPA were incorporated in the agenda-of-alliance, so nothing new can be discussed now," said a senior official. It's for this reason that the Home Minister in his first formal meeting with the Governor NN Vohra, after imposition of the Governor's rule, did not broach up the issue of formation of popular government in J&K. The most important aspect of the meeting was the presence of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and also the senior officials of the intelligence bureau. Sources said that they discussed how to speed up the implementation of PM's package and provide more efficient administration to the people. Doval, also reportedly discussed how to check the growing trend of the mob trying to disrupt the operations against the terrorists and also growing incidents of the local youth joining the terrorist outfits. Sources said that Doval asked the Governor to take effective steps in turning this tide and strengthen the local intelligence set up of the police in close coordination with the locals. Sources said that Doval also said that effective governance can keep a check on it and also that more concrete efforts should be made to check this new policy of the Pakistan. "Doval briefed the Governor about the intelligence inputs of Pakistan changing tactics by luring in more local youth into terrorist outfits to put pressure on India. Doval had said that this needs to checked fast as it can take the things to dangerous level," said the sources. |
