3/13/2016 10:43:51 PM
Early Times Report
RAJOURI, Mar 13: Inhabitants of village Keri in Kalakot tehsil are without drinking water since Public Health Engineering (PHE) department has failed to ensure supply for the last more than five months.
People allege the matter has already been raised several times with the concerned authorities but it appears that they don't bother to mitigate our problems.
Mohd Azam and other said that for the last more than four months people are without water and facing many problems as the natural sources of water are about 4-5 kilometers away from their village.
"If the department failed to provide water within next 7 days, we will left with no option than to come on the roads for our rights," said Azam.
On the other hand Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) concerned said that the water supply pipes laid to provide water for Keri and other areas have been stolen by the people.
He added department has already initiated the process to streamline the supply of water to these people and hoped that soon the water will be made available.
Meanwhile, inhabitants of Godar, Mehrot, Pirparara and others under Saranoo Panchayat have alleged that they are not getting regular supply of water due to casual approach of the PHE employees towards their duties.
"To supply water to our areas PHE department had constructed a dug well near Bridge at Saranoo but the employees posted at this dug well rarely come on their duties resulting in the snapping of water supply to their areas," said Noor Mohd.
In the absence of PHE supply, inhabitants of these villages are forced to collect water from natural resources and many times people of the area fell ill due to contaminated water collected from these resources.
People have appealed to the senior officers of the department to take stern action against such employees otherwise they will come on roads.
