Stranded highway passengers need immediate help: Hamid Choudhary | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 13: Expressing his concern over closure of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway besides other roads connecting various districts in both divisions of Jammu as well as Srinagar due to uninterrupted rains across the State and snowfall on the higher reaches, People's Democratic Party (PDP) leader and former member J&K State Advisory Board for Gujjars and Bakerwals, Abdul Hamid Choudhary today said that stranded passengers need immediate help from the government. In his statement, Choudhary Hamid said that these incessant rains and snowfall have paralysed the life of common people and there are warnings of snow avalanches at many places as well. Keeping in view these weather hostilities, the government must gear up entire administration and ensure safety of commoners besides security personnel working in remote areas of the state. He said that stranded passengers need proper shelter and food both in Srinagar as well as Jammu.Urging Governor N N Vohra to ensure presence of BRO and other allied agencies at vulnerable spots on highway for opening of roads, Choudhary Hamid said according to Met official there is a prediction of heavy rainfall and snowfall at higher reaches for the next two days as well. Some stretches at Mata Vaishno Devi cave shrine have also caved in that must be reconstructed on war footings. |
