Reasi, Mar 13 : A three-day long Chenab Challenge - River Rafting Championship-2016 which begin from March 10 in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, culminated yesterday. The Directorate of Tourism has organized the three day long event- Chenab Challenge - River Rafting Championship - 2016 from 10 March to 12 March 2016 at Baradari, Reasi to promote adventure sports in remote areas of Jammu and Kashmir. "Eleven teams participated in the event which includes a 16-member Indian Army rafting team and two local teams from Reasi," said a spokesperson. Besides Two Army Adventure teams and Air Force team, BSF, ITBP, JKP, two locals teams from Reasi, one team each from Directorate of Tourism, Jammu region and Kashmir region and an women team, students of different colleges also participated in the championship. The participation in this high-risk adventure sport requires high initiative and bravado. This event will promote streak of adventure and boost the self-confidence of youth in remote areas of Jammu and Kashmir. Conduct of National level event will highlight Reasi township on the national calendar and would usher in development in the area. Owner of eco adventure who trained a team of nine girls of different colleges, Gurjet Singh stated that there is lot of scope in rafting in the state and the courage shown by the women team was extra ordinary. |
