JAMMU, Mar 17 : Department of Economics in women and The Law School in men section won the finals of the annual inter-department sports meet of University of Jammu being held on the campus grounds, here today. In the women's final, Economics outplayed Department of Geography 2-0. The Results: Prabhjyot Kour beat Shagufta Saleem 21-10 while the duo of Prabhjyot and Sugandhi defeated the pair of Shagufta and Sayed Fakhara 21-09. The men's badminton title went to The Law School, who trounced Department of Physical Education 2-0 in the final. The Results: Chander Dev Singh beat Abhishek Sharma 21-13. Doubles: Chanderdev and Akeel Shah defeated Abhishek and Manmohan 23-21. Today's finals officiated by the technical penal comprising Ravish Vaid, Gagan Kumar, Ankit, Nishla and Pushap. CRICKET: Meanwhile, in the ongoing inter-department cricket tournament, Department of Geology defeated Department of English by a margin of 17 runs. Earlier, batting first, after English won the toss and opted to field, Department of Geology made 112 runs for two wickets in allotted 12 overs. Sunil made 35-ball half century while Ajay contributed 31 runs. From English, Varun took two wickets. In reply, Department of English could not achieve the target and exhausted their 12 overs quota for 95 runs losing eight wickets. Dev Raj and Rafat were main contributors to the total with 23 and 19 runs respectively. From Geography, Dalip and Aatish took two wickets each while Ranbir, Raul and Vishal shared apiece each. |
