Workers want Mehbooba to revamp party | | | Peerzada Ummer Early Times Report srinagar, Mar 17: The PDP cadre has started pitching for a major revamp within the party. The PDP cadre including the party workers, functionaries and the activists while expressing hope that the State would soon witness a PDP-led coalition, are of the opinion that to make the governance more effective, the PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti needs to make effective decisions vis-a-vis revamping of the party and the Cabinet. They are of the opinion that there were some Ministers in the past regime that were known for giving cold shoulder to the pleas made to them by the party workers. There were series of instances when the PDP chief had to herself jump into the scenes and pacify the situation which would emerge after workers complain to her about the 'anarchic approach' of some of the PDP Ministers. PDP MP Muzaffar Hussain Beigh himself for several times had cautioned the PDP Ministers not to get 'arrogant' about power and give patient hearing to the pleas of the workers. Meanwhile, at present, when stage is being decorated for Mehbooba Mufti to take over the reins of the power in the State, the party cadre wants her to take serious decisions to put lid over the crises that earlier had emerged due to worker-leader wedge. Sources within the party divulged that during the recent meeting, the ground level workers from Central and south Kashmir told Mehbooba that the party needs an overhaul and if the Government is formed, only those leaders should be accorded the Cabinet berths who are more connected with the people and not those who consider it as a mere Government job. "There are voices being heard within the party that the PDP chief has to remain selective while choosing her Cabinet. There has to be a proper system in place under which party workers aren't ignored at all," sources said. It was informed further that Mehbooba has sent a clear world to her party cadre that she would hold the views of the PDP activists supreme and that no measure shall be taken by the party that goes contrary to the views of the ground level workers. Meanwhile, reports informed that there are high chances that the PDP chief would make changes in her Cabinet and some new faces, most likely, would be inducted in her Cabinet- about whom workers have expressed satisfaction. Pertinently, the State is under the Governor's rule at present and PDP-BJP talks have gained momentum after the statement was issued by the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in Parliament this week about more liberal funding for JK. The State is likely to witness a breakthrough in the stalemate by March 20, this year. |
