Jammu, Mar 17 : A one day symposium was organized by Department of Botany, GGM Science College on the topic" Plant Diversity and Its Conservation Strategies". Dr. Ajeet Angral, Principal, GGM Science College applauded the efforts of Department of Botany in organizing such informative programmes.
Dr. Kuldeep Singh, HOD Botany department delivered the keynote address by signifying the importance of plant diversity and stated its conservation as the duty of every individual within or outside the campus.
He further introduced renowned academician and taxonomist Dr. H.S Kiran as the chief guest of the occasion. Prof. Sushma Mam, Prof. Davinder Kumar and Dr. Chanchal Angral judged the symposium.
Thirteen students participated in the symposium. Parteek Sharma, Ragini Manhas and Keertimaan got first, second and third prize, respectively. Consolation prizes were distributed to all the participants. Dr. H.S Kiran discussed the present scenario of plant diversity in J&K. |
