3/17/2016 10:48:05 PM
Udhampur, Mar 17: Locals today protested against Public Works Department (PWD) and District administration for not repairing the five decades old wooden bridge in Lander-Panchari area of Udhampur district.
Raising slogans against the Public Works Department (PWD) and District administration, the locals demanded early repairs of 51 years old wooden bridge which is in shambles and becoming risky for the locals.
Protestors said that this bridge was constructed way back in 1965 by PWD and is only wooden bridge over nallah Painthli from Sisli Darang (Panchari) to Thalua Kotla (Lander) which serves a link between Panchari and Lander regions of district Udhampur. "The worn-out and old bridge is now posing threats to the safety of over 30 thousand souls living in the area, they added.
Protestors said that students, sick persons, senior citizens, and general public have no other alternative but to cross through this damaged bridge. They have requested to authorities to direct concerned authorities to immediate repair this 51 years old wooden bridge.
