Rajouri, Mar 17: J&K Handicapped Welfare Association (J&KHWA) Rajouri under the president ship of Vinod Sharma, senior vice president held a meeting today at Nowshera to discuss the problems being faced by the members of the association and their other associates. Large number of disabled persons, old age and widows were present in the meeting and raised their issues before the office holders of JKHWA. The beneficiaries under JKHWA demanded enhancement of monthly pension from Rs 400 to Rs 2000 per month besides disbursement of pension in the same month and through Money orders especially for old age and disabled persons. "The beneficiaries have to take several visits to Social Welfare Officer (SWO) office or to banks to get their pensions even for many months together. They spend more than their pensions while taking rounds of the offices" said Vinod Sharma. He also demanded artificial limb camps on regular basis so that the beneficiaries may be provided crutches, hearing aids, modified scooters, tricycles, wheel chairs etc. In this connection the disabled persons have also submitted a memorandum to Governor J&K through Harbans Lal Sharmqa, SDM,Nowshera in favor of their demands |
