jammu, Mar 17: The state vigilance commission (SVC) has directed JDA vice-chairman to furnish action taken report through director land management in the alleged state land encroachment case at Chhani Kamala here. The commission, while proceeding on a complaint about encroachment of 26 kanals 3 marlas of state land, bearing khasra No 124, at Chhani Kamala by land mafia with the alleged support of officials of revenue department and JDA, issued notice to the JDA VC, directing him to get the demarcation of land done through revenue department in the presence of JDA officials. It observed that the illegal possession of state land had caused a huge loss to the state exchequer. "A report furnished by the assistant commissioner revenue, Jammu, has prima-facie revealed that the land is state property. Out of 26 kanals 3 marlas, 25 kanals 15 marlas is recorded in the name of Nazool and JDA and 9 marlas in the name of housing department. 24 kanals 14 marlas stand encroached by land grabbers who do not possess papers regarding title of the land. At present, only 1 kanal 9 marlas land is vacant, which shows poor supervision and alleged connivance on the part of JDA officials who otherwise are holding onerous responsibility to save the state land. In this case, they have failed to take requisite preventive measures to stop unauthorised occupation of the state land," SVC said. SVC directed JDA VC to take immediate action to get back land from the encroachers, besides fixing responsibility on the officials who had facilitated land grabbing. The JDA head was also directed to submit action taken report to the commission on next date of hearing through director land management for further legal action against the guilty government officials, sources said. |
