kishtwar, Mar 17: Shortage of teaching staff in government schools in the district is said to be mainly because of the unlawful attachment of teachers with head offices. Education Reformation Teachers Union president Akhter Giri said the attachment of 'blue-eyed' teachers on unreasonable grounds was a major cause of concern in the district. There were many rural schools which were without teachers, he alleged. "The CEO's order to cancel all attachments in the district has been implemented in a selective manner as influential teachers and some ReTs continue to work in Kishtwar town and other urban areas," he alleged. "These teachers continue to remain attached with CEO office, offices of some ZEOs, boys higher secondary school, Kishtwar, girls higher secondary school, Kishtwar, DIET, Kishtwar, and even with the office of district development commissioner while the students of schools, where they are originally posted, continue to suffer for want of teachers," the union president alleged. Apart from these regular teachers, some ReT teachers, posted in far-flung schools, were also attached with urban schools, he alleged. Although government had imposed a blanket ban on attachments, it "seems as if rules and regulations are not meant for the blue-eyed teachers", he said. "We have approached CEO, Kishtwar, as well as the concerned ZEOs, but no action has so far been taken", he said and added that it was unfortunate that a few teacher had been posted in rural areas whereas in the schools situated in the towns more than 15 teachers were being posted in one school just for 50 students. When contacted, CEO, Kishtwar, Abdul Hamid Fani said the department was working on the detachment of teachers and assured that all the teachers would be detached with immediate effect. He assured to speak to ZEOs and school principals regarding attachments in government schools, DIET, Kishtwar, ZEO offices and DC office. The union president sought the governor's intervention to cancel the attachment orders of teachers. |
