Governor reviews Progress of Aadhaar Card Enrolment
4.78 lakh people enrolled, 8 lakh Aadhaar generated since January

JAMMU, Mar 17: Governor N. N. Vohra today reviewed the progress of enrolment under the National Population Register and issuance of Aadhaar cards.
As per the Information Technology Department's report, as on 16th March 2016, 88,25,556 people have been enrolled out of the total population of 1,25,41,302, and Aadhaar cards have been issued to 73,87,321 persons. Governor was informed that more than 8 lakh Aadhaar have been generated since January this year and another 4.78 lakh persons have been enrolled.
In January this year 1,67,077 persons were enrolled and 2,25,106 were issued Aadhar cards; inFebruary 1,41,221 persons were enrolled and 4,08,045 were issued Aadhar cards; in March 2016, till date, 1,70,227 persons were enrolled and 1,69,532 were issued Aadhar cards.
District wise population enrolled till date is: Leh 82,482 (62 %), Kargil 94,568 (67%), Srinagar 641,194 (52%), Ganderbal 205,643 (69%), Baramulla 714,328 (71%), Kupwara 520,507 (60%), Bandipore 263,066 (67%), Kulgam 355,675 (84%), Budgam 581,705 (77%), Poonch 315,871 (66%), Rajouri 412,452 ( 64%), Pulwama 400,244 (71%), Shopian 222,346 (84%), Anantnag 686,548 (64%), Reasi 239,703 (76%), Kishtwar 183,373 (79%), Ramban 227,561 (80%), Doda 323,423 (79%), Udhampur 457,772 (82%), Kathua 464,531 (75%), Jammu 1,156,059 (76%) and Samba 276,505 (87%).
District wise number of Aadhaar cards issued are: Leh 82,069, Kargil 92,325, Srinagar 4,28,641, Ganderbal 1,77,973 , Baramulla 5,81,221 , Kupwara 4,78,713 , Bandipore 2,34,546, Kulgam 3,42,707, Budgam 4,44,395, Poonch 2,33,287, Rajouri 2,71,492, Pulwama 3,33,688, Shopian 1,78,804, Anantnag 6,10,984, Reasi 2,21,693, Kishtwar 1,34,129, Ramban 2,01,026, Doda 2,64,077, Udhampur 3,49,696, Kathua 4,20,811, Jammu 1062489 and Samba 2,42,555 .
The Governor has directed the State Census Department to significantly speed up the process by holding camps in the field and outside large offices to enable people to enroll themselves closer to their villages and places of work.
