Jammu/Srinagar, June 26: Jammu and Kashmir's summer capital Srinagar on Sunday recorded this season's highest temperature at 33.5 degrees while the heat wave continued in Jammu where it was 35 degrees.
"The maximum temperature in Sringar was 33.5 degrees Celsius, three degrees above average, which is the highest recorded so far this season. Jammu city recorded 35 degrees as the heat wave continued there unabated," a Met department official told .
"There would be some relief from sweltering heat in Srinagar during the next two to three days although we are not expecting my any appreciable rainfall activity during this period," the official added.
The heat wave in the state is especially bothering the local Muslims whose thirst gets exacerbated during almost 16 hours of fasting during the ongoing month of Ramadan.
