Jammu, June 26: Amid hue and cry over non-caderisation of KPS officers, around 300 Police Inspectors who were promoted as DySPs in 2003, are still working in own pay and grade (OPG) as inspectors. Moreover, the officers who were directly recruited as Dy.SPs (KPS 2004) batch have been promoted to the rank of Superintendent of Police. According to documents available with Early Times, number of Police Inspectors promoted as Dy.SPs since 2003 are working in OPG. "Sanction is hereby accorded to the placement of the following inspectors (executive) as I/C Deputy Superintendents of Police in their own pay and grade with the benefits of charge allowance as admissible under rules for a period of six months or till these posts are filled upon a regular basis on the recommendation of DPC/PSC which eve is earlier", order issued by home department read. Over a decade later, the promoted Dy.SPs are waiting for confirmation of their elevation. "In 1990, when state was reeling under peak militancy, 250 Sub Inspectors were recruited in year were imparted specialized training at Nimuch CRPF training centre and BSF Academy Takenpur (M.P.)", sources said, adding that the officer of that batch, after basic training were posted in various districts. "They fought against militancy throughout the state, and many amongst them sacrificed their lives during anti-militancy operations in Kashmir Valley as well as Doda-Kishtwar, Rajouri and Poonch Districts", they added. "The officers further got promoted upto the rank of Dy. Superintendent of Police in 2002-04, but in OPG", sources said. "We are being discriminated against by the department", said an officer, adding that those who were directly recruited as Dy.SP in 2004 have been promoted to the rank of Superintendent of Police but the officer who were promoted in 2003 or later from Inspector to Dy.SP in OPG have not been confirmed so for. "This is totally unfair, injustice and step motherly treatment with the promotee Dy.SPs", the officer said, adding that a lobby of IPS and KPS officers in department is victimizing the promotee inspectors. These officers have urged upon the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to intervene, so that they could get benefit of promotion before their retirement, as most of the officer would be retire from services in couple of years. |
