'Throw Basit out of India' | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 26: Pakistan High Commission to India Abdul Basit is known for making provocative statements, but no one had ever expected that he would shamelessly display his insensitivity so brazenly by asking media persons not to ask any question on the deadly terror attack in Kashmir on the CRPF bus, which culminated in the death of at least eight jawans and left two dozen others wounded. That he displayed his insensitivity in the heart of national capital should establish that he belongs to the same stuff of which butchers and barbarians are made. Basit instead of sharing the pain and the agony of the wounded nation pitched for resolution of the so-called Kashmir problem and asked the dumb founded media persons to enjoy the Iftar party. Pakistani envoy to India Abdul Basit made the comments at an Iftar party organised at the Pakistan High Commission premises here. "Our policy is to establish peace and harmony across the world and this is our policy towards India as well. It has the same essence and spirit. We want improved relations with India, on that of same standing and that we live in peace together. We solve the issues and challenges with peace. We want the most important issue of Jammu and Kashmir to be solved as soon as possible so that we can give our future generations a peaceful South Asia," he said. "Don't ask me any political question. Today is not the day to discuss politics; today is the day for enjoying Iftar party; enjoy," Basit further said. He crossed all the lines and he threw to the wind all cardinal principles of diplomacy. It was hoped that the Modi Government would declared him persona non grata then and there and ordered him to quit India immediately, but, unfortunately, the Indian Foreign Office further annoyed the already rather angry nation. The men in power only paid lip service and expressed solidarity with the members of the bereaved families and that was all. On the contrary, a report suggested that New Delhi was mulling talks with Pakistan. This will not do. Pakistan has to be taught a lesson and Basit has to be thrown out of India without losing a moment. This is the minimum that the nation wants New Delhi to do to assuage its hurt feelings. Basit is not a diplomat; he is a mercenary and a man who is conspiring against India while in India. Will New Delhi finally act and tell Pakistan that it will not tolerate any non-sense? Even this will not do. The Modi Government has to give a freehand to the army and paramilitary forces to cleanse the state of all terrorists, all separatists and all communalists at whatever cost. |
