JAMMU, June 26: A police officer, who has been managing things shrewdly and deviously in his favour, has got his promotion order issued to save himself from an alleged case of corruption. Courtesy: A senior administrative officer, who is said to be his classmate.
A few days back, an alleged case of corruption at the police station headed by him came to the notice of senior police officers. The allegation was proved to be true in the police inquiry report and the amount of bribe was also recovered, police sources said.
The SHO was also alleged to have received the share of proceeds.
When he found that his name could also be dragged in the alleged incident of bribe, he, with the help of the administrative officer, got his promotion list released, bypassing some seniors, sources alleged.
"With his promotion, the inquiry, if any, against him is likely to be dropped by his seniors," sources said.
Sources claimed that a police wing had also submitted a report against the SHO, alleging that he had received the share of the amount of bribe, but no cognizance of this report was said to have been taken so far.
He was now trying to shield his juniors at the police station who were alleged to have finalized the deal so that he himself was saved ultimately.
Sources said the SHO had returned his share of the money to the juniors. |
