PDP-BJP not working seriously for J&K People: Bhalla | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 29: Congress on Wednesday rejected coalitions Government's claims of taking every step for welfare of people, saying "they have only indulged in fooling the people by rhetoric and marketing themselves. Former Minister Raman Bhalla while addressing well attended public meeting in Nai Basti area of Gandhi Nagar constituency here today regretted that Coalition Govt, particularly the BJP failed to ensure resolution of the burning issues of Jammu region in the current Assembly session including roll back of service tax on Helicopter services to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji shrine. Taking a dig on the BJP for its political incompetence in the Coalition Government, Bhalla said that imposing Service Tax on helicopter services availed by the pilgrims to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji shrine has deeply hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus all over the world. He said that the State Government has bypassed the authority of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board headed by Governor of the State by interfering in the highly sensitive religious issue and imposing tax on the religious pilgrimage. The Government should direct the authorities at Lakhanpur to completely exempt the vehicles carrying any kind of goods for setting up `langars' during annual pilgrimage of Shri Amarnath ji, beginning July 2, from the purview of Toll Tax and Entry Tax. Allow all vehicles carrying goods for installation of `langars' at different places on yatra route right from Lakhanpur to holy cave shrine of Lord Shiva in South Kashmir Himalayas without charging any Toll Tax or Entry Tax, he demanded. |
