Hafiz Saeed's son-in-law behind Pampore attack | | | Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report Srinagar, June 29: Security agencies dealing with anti-militancy operations suspect the hand of Lashker chief Hafiz Saeed's son-in-law behind the Pampore terror attack. Sources said Saeed's son-in-law Khalid Waleed is suspected to be the mastermind behind the Pampore attack while two of his associates identified by security agencies as Hanzla Adnan and Sajad Jat also acted as handlers to two militants who were killed in security forces retaliation fire. Besides handling the two fidayeen, the trio also arranged local logistic support for carrying out the successful attack. "Without local support, such big terror strike is not possible--- we are working on the local helps who are playing hosts to these militants involved in series of terror attacks in the area in recent past" said the sources. It is pertinent to mention that a meeting of the internal security top brass yesterday was chaired by Home Minister Rajnath Singh and attended by national security adviser Ajit Doval, union home secretary Rajiv Mehrishi, RAW chief Rajinder Khanna and Intelligence Bureau director Dineshwar Sharma. Soon after the meeting, it was decided to launch a major operational offensive against militant groups in Kashmir in the face of increasing militant strikes. The option of giving more firepower to the security forces was also discussed. The government is also planning to install the CCTV Camera at vulnerable stretch all along the National Highway so that vehicular and other movement on the highway could be monitored effectively. The latest attack that took place on Saturday on Highway between Pampore and Bijbehara was the sixth terror attack in last six months. On Dec 9, 2015, two militants were killed after forces intercepted a vehicle near Pampore. Shortly militants struck again that month, injuring two cops, including a DySP, in February this year, two CRPF personnel were killed in a Pampore attack, on April 8, two civilians were injured when militants targeted army vehicle. And on June 3, three BSF personnel were killed in militant attack on convoy at Bijbehera. Meanwhile the sources further added that frequent traffic jams and poor condition of the road are also the main cause that gives edge to the militants like in latest terror strike. The sources said that the CRPF vehicle was travelling very slow due to traffic snarls on the National Highway, beside the speed of the vehicle also gets slow due to poor road as a result of which militants finds easy to target the convoy vehicles. It is difficult for the militants to carry out such attacks of fast moving vehicles. The sources said that frequent traffic nakkas installed by traffic police all along the National Highway many times lead to traffic jams which also needs to be avoided. The sources said that keeping in view of Amarnath Yatra, next few weeks would be crucial for the security forces to keep at bay the militant organizations like LeT and HM, which are leaving no opportunity to vitiate peace in the Valley. |
