LDWA of PHE deptt holds meeting, discusses various demands | | | Early Times Report
BHADERWAH, June 29: Land Donors Workers Association (LDWA) of the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department held a meeting here today to discuss their long standing issues and demands. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of its President Pritam Singh Kotwal which was also attended by other workers and senior leaders. The office-bearers of the Association stated that the government has not woken up from its deep slumber till date in the matter for release of their wages. "The Minister concerned and Finance Minister had promised to release the wages of previous one year on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr. But it seems that nothing has been done so far to fulfill the promise", said Pritam Singh Kotwal. He said that the administration and the department are not caring even a fig for the poor employees. Kotwal said the workers are giving their services for last 10 years in maintaining regular water supply to the public and the government gave them only the wages of one month in a year.
"It is quite astonishing that an order of allotment of funds has been issued by Chief Engineer PHE Department releasing an amount of Rs 33.34 lakh for Doda district for 1418 workers. This means that pay for only ten days is to be given per individual," said Kulbir Singh another leader of the association. The meeting concluded with a firm resolution that if the wages as per promise (for one year) is not released before Eid festival, protest will start which will extend throughout the state. |
