Govt to introduce bill on enhancement of Legislators salary in current session | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, June 29: With barely a day left in the current session of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, the J&K Government today asserted that it is contemplating to enhance the salary of Members of the state legislatures (MLAs/MLCs). In a written reply to AQ No 557 of Congress MLA from Banihal, the Incharge minister of Law and Justice stated that a bill with regard to enhancement of salaries of MLAs/MLCs is being introduced in the current session of the state legislature which is concluding tomorrow with last day in Legislative Assembly while the Legislative Council is winding up its business on July 2, 2016. In a supplementary question over delay in release of CDF, the government stated that planning and development department has already accorded sanction to the release of 25% out of the total CDF of the legislators to the respective District Development Commissioners for the current Financial Year 2016-17 vide Government Order No. 204-PD of 2016 dated 25-04-2016, it added that the balance of 75% shall be released on due course of time. "The bill is likely to get the nod as majority of the MLAs had already submitted a memorandum to Speaker demanding enhancement in salaries of the legislators of both the Houses, the government reply stated. With regard to enhancement of salaries of Personal Assistants (PAs) deputed with the legislators, the government reply stated that a committee of MLAs has been constituted by the Speaker of the assembly vide notification dated 20-06-2016 to inter-aila look into the demand of enhancement of remunerations of the PAs to the members with the directions to submit its report within two months. |
