Rs 2380 Cr spent on Kashmiri Pandits since 1990: Govt | KPs left total 17991 kanals of land in Anantnag, 14790 kanals in Kupwara | | Early Times Report Srinagar, June 29: The Jammu and Kashmir Government today revealed that an amount of Rs 238028.38 Lakh was spent on Kashmiri Pandits since 1990 while Pandits had left a total of 17991 kanals of land in Anantnag, followed by Kupwara 14790 kanals of land. In a written reply to BJP MLA, Minister for Relief and Rehabilitation said that various schemes were launched for welfare of Kashmiri Pandits who fled Valley in 1990, it added that out of over Rs. 23 crore assistance, Rs. 1547.778 Lakh was paid in cash to the migrant Pandits in addition to Rs 1409 Lakh is the share of Prime Minister's empowerment package for the community. He said that the Pandits were paid over Rs 2 crore in 1989-90 while 2015-16 witnessed a quantum jump in the assistance taking the amount to Rs 25506.397 Lakh. Replying in another question said that a total of 41333 families are registered as Kashmiri migrants. It includes 37308 Hindu families and 2252 as Muslims families while 18732 families are being given relief out of 41333. Govt said that a total of 5180 souls are registered as Jammu migrants comprises of 958 Hindu and 96 Muslim families. Government further said that a total of 6060 migrant immovable property cases are registered since 1997 up to December 29, 2015. "Srinagar tops the list with 1921 cases followed by Anantnag with 1246 cases while Bandipora has a least number of 18 cases, he said. There is no case of KP migrant land in Kargil and Leh, it stated. The government reply also said that in Anantnag, Pandits had left a total of 17991 kanals of land followed by Kupwara 14790 kanals of land. |
