Plantation drive organised | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 30: Krishi Vigyan Kendra Jammu organized plantation drives at their adopted villages namely Sagun, Mathwar and Rabta of Jammu and Mohargarh panchayat of Samba district respectively. According to press release speaking on the occasion Dr Vikas Tandon Senior Scientist and Head KVK Jammu briefed that planting tree will not only increases the green cover but also helps in eco restoration of the degraded farmlands. Dr Punit Choudhary Scientist Forestry and Principal Investigator NABARD Sponsored FSPF (Herbal) project being implemented at KVK Jammu informed that grafted sapling of Harad, Behra and Aonla have been distributed free of cost to the farmers as a source of livelihood security for the farmers of the Kandi villages of Jammu and Samba District during this monsoon season. Prof S K Gupta and Officer Incharge AICRP Agroforestry, Division of Agroforestry, SKUAST-J Chatha stressed upon the adoption of boundary plantations of multipurpose tree species on farm bunds and boundaries for higher income and profitability from the farming system. Dr Rakesh Sharma Sr Scientist Agriculture Extension also motivated the farmers to plant more no of trees during this monsoon season. Dr Sandeep Sehgal Sr Scientist Agro-forestry was also present on the occasion. Plantation drive of multipurpose and medicinal trees was organized in the presence of the farming communities and Sarpanchs of the respective villages. |
