| Vibodh hails State Cabinet decision on recommendation of ST Status for Paharis | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 30: Hailing the Cabinet decision of recommendation for granting ST status to Pahari speaking people, senior BJP leader and MLC, Vibodh Gupta has said that the present coalition Government was fully committed for the up-liftment of the poor and marginalized Paharis of the state. He informed that the recent cabinet meeting has recommended grant of ST status to the Paharis and this recommendation has been sent to the Union Ministry of Tribal Afairs for further approval from the Central Government. He was speaking to the students and staff of Pahari Hostel at Jammu. Describing this historical decision, Vibodh said that this shows the seriousness of the CM and the Deputy CM towards the betterment of all the sections of the society.
Earlier, the MLC visited Pahari Hostel and interacted with the staff and students there. He took stock of various issues and problems being faced by the students at the hostel. Students complained of acute shortage of water and electricity and requested the MLC to help them so that they can properly focus on their studies. The MLC assured them to do the needful. He also thanked the Pahari Community and leaders who have always unitedly helped in maintaining communal harmony and peace in the state. He also appealed the PM and the Union Minister for Tribal Affairs to give their final approval to granting of ST status to Paharis. |
