Kishtwar, July 30: Kishtwar police today booked a police constable and two others believed to be his associates for assaulting an 18 year old B.Tech student while he was heading home after visiting his relatives and leaving him seriously injured.
As per the details available with "Early Times", Kishtwar police today registered an FIR No. 148 U/S 323,341,382,504,506 RPC against Constable Naresh Kumar resident of Kuntwara Kishtwar and two others whose names did not figure in the FIR as their identity was yet to be established. After registration of an FIR, accused constable was arrested by the police.
As per the victim's statement, he is pursuing his education from a Punjab college and is presently holidaying at home and was returning from his relatives' place when the accused constable intercepted the motorcycle of the victim outside Kendriya Vidyalaya School Kishtwar at around 11.30 am and assaulted at him. He said that after assaulting and thrashing him, the accused constable charged him of eve teasing and called the police party who shifted him and his friend to police station Kishtwar.
The father of the victim immediately brought the matter into the notice of senior police officers who started its investigation and found that the accused constable was not the part of the police team deputed from police station Kishtwar for keeping an eye on eve teasing activities during opening and closing time of school.
The victim and his father revealed that the accused cop had been visiting a women tenant putting up at their home along with her children while her husband was abroad in connection with job. They revealed that they had warned him not to hover around their home which had infuriated the accused cop.
A senior police officer when contacted confirmed the registration of an FIR against the police constable. He said that departmental inquiry too will be initiated against him under service conduct rule for defaming the organization.
