GST Bill: Not applicable for Jammu & Kashmir, says Hasib Drabu | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 30: In a recent development in the GST bill, Jammu & Kashmir Finance Minister Hasib Drabu said that the proposed indirect tax reform bill will not be extended to the valley. After the GST Bill got the cabinet nod, the GST panel head Amit Mishra said that the Constitutional amendment bill will be tabled in Rajya Sabha next week. A seperate proposal on the state participation in the GST structure will also be introduced. The above submissions were made at the Empowered Committee (EC) meeting with the State Finance Ministers in Delhi on July 26. In an attempt to protect Jammu & Kashmir's special taxation powers, the minister said that the committe has agreed to his proposition. However, the GST applicability of a particular state will purely depend upon the discretion of the state governments. The GST Bill, that faced immense opposition from the Congress Party and now the discussion will take place next week in Rajya Sabha. Drabu is also said to have other contentious issues with the bill in terms of power sharing between the centre and the state. "The state government is giving various tax exemptions to the industry.
