After mobile internet, phone, private internet services snapped in Kashmir | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Aug 12: After mobile internet of all cellular companies, including Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL), authorities this afternoon snapped internet service of all private companies in the Kashmir Valley, where life remained crippled for the 35th day today due to curfew, restrictions and strike, called by separatists against killing of 57 civilian in security force firing. However, BSNL broadband service was still functioning and could also be snapped any time now. A private service provider " Internet Private Limited", has snapped the internet service from this afternoon in Srinagar. We have just now received instructions to stop internet service, an official said. He said,'' the service will be restored only after August 15. We donot know why the government has decided to suspend the service as we have hundreds of subscribers who are depending on our service.'' Due to suspension of internet service, media organisation, including majority of national and international newspapers and other organizations, would be the worst hit. The mobile internet is already suspended in the Kashmir Valley since July 9, a day after Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) commander Burhan Wani and two other militants were killed in an encounter in Anantnag district, evoking massive protests across the valley. Both the factions of the Hurriyat Conference (HC) and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) , spearheading the present agitation, have issued a fresh protest calendar last evening, extending strike till August 18. They have called for Lal Chowk challo tomorrow and August 14. |
