Influential cop refuses to vacate encroached land | | | AB Sharma Early Times Report rajouri, Aug 12: In a renewed effort to hold on to government land a constable (CID CI) in the police department is using his "influence to take hold on to the land illegally. The Early Times on June 22 had reported how a Police constable at village Taryath in Rajouri district had taken the government hostage and refused to vacate the government land despite court orders. The genesis of the issue over the land started when one of the party having the possession of the encroached government land decided to return the land to the government, the other party refused to do so and used the illegal means to maintain its control over the land. Despite court order to vacate the land, the police constable illegally got an order from senior IAS officer to carry on with the possession of the land. The order for vacation of the land was issued by the another IAS officer as the other party who wanted to vacate the government land. A top IAS officer had directed the tehsildar Taryath, to get a piece of land measuring nearly 30 kanals vacated from the illegal possession of two parties who had occupied the government land illegaly. After the order was issued, one party in this case agreed to vacate the land while the other party held on to it and refused to relent. Meanwhile, in the process the party that had agreed to leave the land called on the Tehsildar and expressed its willingness to handover the possession. The Tehsildar reportedly took his own time and gave false assurances to the party and asked them to wait. However, the sources said that in the meantime, the Tehsildar met the other party and advised them to get another order issued by some top official to stay the process of getting the land vacated. This party approached the official of the rank of Commissioner Secretary and by putting in a false plea got an order issued putting the process of vacating the land to halt. However, after Early times carried a news story on June 22, the issue was resolved with the relenting party also budging in and had to give away the piece of land held by him. This irritated the son of the man who had agreed to give away the portion of the land occupied by him. The son a police constable (CID CI) once again is trying to retrieve the land from the government occupation. The present status of the land is that since the CID CI son is using his influence to hold upon the encroached land of the government, no agency including the Revenue department is coming forward to get the land vacated from the cop " Policeman is using his influence and enjoys patronage of senior officials who are backing his illegal activities and none of the officials have ordered a departmental enquiry against him," said the sources . Meanwhile the person who has given back the land to the government is now fearing for his life as he has alleged that the policeman is threatening him "I am at the receiving end for no fault of mine . I have conceded to the government procedure to give the land back to the government, but by doing so I have invited the CID CI's wrath against me who is threatening me," said the other party. He has urged the district as well state administration o give audience to his plea and bring the culprit to the book or otherwise he may lose his life. |
