Omar's attack on elected Govt helped separatists' cause | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 23: Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who had camped in the Delhi, for some 'solution' to end ongoing impasse in the valley, has strengthened the cause of the separatists by giving them an opportunity to unitedly take on the elected government. "The home ministry while acknowledging the concern of the former CM over prevailing situation in the valley and the loss of lives also told him that he had by attacking the democratically elected government at this crucial juncture and not saying anything critical about Burhan Wani has given the space to the separatists to get united, which was not the case earlier," said a senior official. It's only after this strong rebuff from the home ministry that former CM has tried to dial-back and he had even appreciated the stand of the prime minister, where he had accepted that Kashmir problem could not be solved by development alone. "Omar may have now got some sense of the present situation but he has done tremendous damage to the mainstream politicians of the state, of which he too is a part," said the official. The senior officials and politicians believe that earlier separatists were divided and the collective mainstream parties were changing the narratives even contesting each other they had faith of the people and that was changing the narrative. But with even Omar also speaking just short of the separatist voice and forcing the Congress to support has made the mainstream parties much more redundant and has left the elected government in direct confrontation witht the separatists and this is major concern. |
