Op Sanjeevni: Six held with 500 gms heroin, cash upto Rs 3 lakh 9/17/2016 11:17:04 PM Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 17: In continuation with special drive against drugs under Operation 'Sanjeevani' today Jammu police achieved a major success when Nowabad police arrested four drug peddlers alongwith 518 gms of Heroin and Rs 3 lakh which was also recovered from their possession. Police spokesperson said, "On specific information team led by SHO Nowabad Inspector Raghubir Singh intercepted two vehicles including one Tata Sumo bearing registration number JK22-7655 and Santro car JK01Q-3740. "Four persons travelling in Tata Sumo have been identified as Farooq Ah Dar son of Talib Hussain of Mendhar Poonch, Mehmood Ahmed son of Talib Hussain of Mendhar Poonch and Liaqat Ali son of Mohd Qasim of Balakote Poonch and Mohd Shabbir son of Mohd Sharif of Lanjot Poonch, police said, adding, "police during serach of vehicle recovered 265 grams of Heroin and Rs 2.10 lakhs from their possession. "Meanwhile, two persons identified as Akhlaq Khan son of Mohd Yaqoob of Manjakote Rajouri and Mumtaz Ahmed son of Mohd Showkat of Mendhar Poonch were found travelling in Santro car, police said. Police Spokesman said that during the search of Santro car police team recovered 253 grams of Heroin along with Rs 90,000 cash from their possession. Police spokesperson said that thus police seized narcotic drug upto 518 grams from six drug/narcotics peddlers besides recovering cash amounting to Rs 3.0 lakhs. The vehicles, consignment of contraband were seized while drug peddlers too were arrested on the spot, police said Accordingly a case under FIR No 130/2016 u/s 8/21/21/29 NDPS Act has been registered against accused at Police Station Nowabad while further investigations are on.
