Katra observes shutdown, Baridars protest against Vaishno Devi Shrine Board | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 17: Katra townthe base camp of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Cave Shrinetoday observed complete shutdown while Baridars protested against Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board. Protesting Baridars are against opening of third track asserting that it would affect the business of Katra traders besides demanding inclusion of their members in the Shrine Board. The Baridars, however, also demanded compensation and facilities to the wards of locals, who have donated their land for the construction of Narayana Hospital and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University. According to sources, they are also demanding free admissions to their children in the university besides treatment in the hospital for their major contributions towards development of Katra. Meanwhile, a protest rally was taken out in the morning and protest was staged at Katra town. On August 30, Baridars observed black day and protested against Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board. On August 30, 1986 former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Jagmohan took control of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi from Baridars. |
