Militants spotted in Karnah sector, search operation launched 9/23/2016 11:12:46 PM S Tahir-ul Haq Kupwara, Sept 23: A group of militants was spotted today by security forces near LoC in Karnah sector of Kupwara district. According to top BSF officials, " a group of unidentified militants was spotted near Line of Control (LoC) in Karnah sector, the troops have been put on high alert to meet any challenge". "On Friday afternoon, there was a movement of militants in Keran sector, after which militants took position in the dense forests, the official said. The official said that, " it is a difficult task to locate the militants in the hilly terrains as they took shelter behind the rocks in the dense forests and today a group of 3-4 heavily armed militants tried to sneak in the Indian side of the Line of Control (LoC). He said that robust counter infiltration grid was immediately put in place to pick up the movements of militants and there is a constant surveillance so that the intruders will be pushed back to the other side of Line of Control (LoC) in Seemari forests. The search operation in the dense forests and the adjoining areas was carried out to nab the militants from the area. However sources told Early Times that, from past few days there was suspicious movement of some unidentified gunmen near LoC in Hajineer, Hindwal, Tarban Seemari forests of Karnah sector.
