Education department makes mess of teachers' transfers, draws criticism | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 23: The recent ban on transfers by Education Department has drawn a flake with teachers fraternity as well as employees bodies up in arms against it. According to sources there is a lot of resentment not only among teachers fraternity but among the other employees as well. The bureaucrats after transferring their favourites and yesmen have issued a ban order to create hurdles in the way of those members of the fraternity serving in far flung areas for years together. Sources said the Government imposed blanket ban on transfers so that the authorities could outrightly say no to those teachers who approached them seeking modifications in the orders as those teachers who have no Godfather in the Department have been posted or retained in remote areas. Sources said that failure of Education Department to pursue a concrete policy has been the root cause of prevailing mess in the Department. Sources said notwithstanding the claims of the Government of bringing Education Department back on rails many schools in farflung areas of the State are without teachers as the teachers posted there either don't attend their duties or have managed their attachments in near by schools through dubious means. Sources said situation is worst in Kashmir Valley where teachers serving in far-flung areas don't attend their duties for months together after greasing the palms of the concerned officers. Sources while questioning the ban on transfers said it is just a ploy to harass those teachers who have neither any approach, nor well wishers in the Department. |
