Vigilance probe demanded in 'foot bridge construction' | | | Early Times Report Udhampur, Sept 23: A deputation of locals from Panchari Block called on Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Udhampur to apprise him about re-locating the sanctioned Foot Bridge over Baggal Nallah and also demanded vigilance probe in reduction of span of bridge by the concerned at their own. Alleging misuse of funds and hand in glove of contactors and government officials, villagers informed that the contactors not only have changed the place of bridge but also have reduced the span of bridge from 42 ft to 20 ft only. Villagers urged the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Udhampur Angrez Singh Rana for immediate enquiry of the newly construction foot bridge no BG-164, over Baggal Nallah block Panchari Badhota sanctioned at an estimated cost of Rs 15 Lakh. They informed him that the contractor not has relocated the foot bridge some 400 meters away from the place identified by the government authorities but also has reduced the span of bridge by 22 ft in alleged connivance with concerned officials. They said, "The relocation of bridge would not serve its purpose as many small hamlets will still remain un connected." Alleging misuse of govt exchequer, villagers demanded immediate stoppage of the work and vigilance probe in the matter. The delegation comprises Lehar Singh, Sansar Singh, Kartar Singh, Pawan Singh, Yashpal Singh, Dhara Singh, Balbir Singh and Sushil Singh. |
