"FOIJ calls on CPCB's Chairman | | | Jammu, Sept 23: A delegation of Federation of Industries Jammu (FOIJ) called on Chairman of Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), S P Sing Parihar at his office New Delhi to discuss the issue related to pending cases for the revocation of closure notices, issued by the CPCB, New Delhi in respect of cement manufacturing units located in J&K. According to press release, the delegation led by Lalit Mahajan, Chairman along with Ajit Bawa, Co Chairman FOIJ and President, Kathua Industrial Unit Association. During the course of discussions, Mahajan informed to Chairman that numbers of cement manufacturing units already installed on the line monitoring equipments and accordingly the intimation in this regard communicated to the CPCB by the State Pollution Control Board but till date no action has been taken by the department to revoke the closer notices, the reasons best known to them. "Resulting of which, numbers of Units closed down and thousands of employees may face the retrenchment in near future", he informed. Further, Mahajan draw the kind attention of Chairman towards unrest in our State and numbers of time the State government has suspended the internet services from last three months resulting it is difficult for the department to monitor the working of pollution control devices from outside the State. The Chairman of CPCB assured the delegation that all the pending cases of the cement manufacturing units, who have been already installed the online monitoring system, shall be cleared immediately and the closure notices shall be revoked accordingly. |
