Training on Quality Seed Production for farmers organized | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 23: A One day Training Programme was held here at Village Korotana Khurd village of Suchetgarh Basmati Rice Cluster (SBRC) in R.S.Pura Sub Division of Jammu District for the Basmati Growers representing 10 different groups. Speaking on the occasion Director Agriculture Jammu, Shri Sudesh Koul said that such trainings with active participation of the Scientists, Extension Functionaries and the farmers under SBRC Project guide the farmers to enable them to produce true-to-type indigenous aromatic Basmati rice through organic means for improved marketability and export for higher economic returns as per Organic India standards through Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) approach. Dr. Ritesh Sharma, Senior Scientist, Basmati Export Development Foundation (BEDF), Modipuram gave a comprehensive lecture on Improved Seed Production Techniques for Quality Organic Basmati Seed. Dr Anjani Kumar Singh, Scientist, SKUAST Jammu presented a technical lecture on prevention of entry of fertilizers/pesticide from the adjoining areas. The Scientists and the experts of the department interacted with the farmers and replied to the questions about the cultivation of Organic Basmati on scientific lines. Director Agriculture along with team of officers also visited the demonstration plots and trials of farmers laid out by the Service Providing Agencies and participating companies of Suchetgarh Basmati Rice Cluster (SBRC). The products demonstrated include Vermi-based organic manures, Zyme granules, Azotobacter, Potash Solublizing Bacteria, Phosphorus Solublizing Bacteria, Azospirillum, Trichoderma viridi, Beauvaria bassiana, Metarhizium anisopliae etc. The Director also inspected the process of data uploading of SBRC on PGS Portal and e-networking underway which is mandatory as per the guidelines of the project. |
