Age is the most important risk factor in developing cardiovascular diseases, with approximately tripling of risk with each decade of life. It is estimated that 82 percent of people who die of coronary heart disease are 65 and older . At the same time the risk of stroke doubles every decade of age 55years. "Aging is also associated with the change in the mechanical and structural properties of the vascular wall, which leads to the loss of arterial elasticity and reduced arterial compliance and may subsequently lead to coronary artery diseases. Hypertension and rhythm disturbance are more common in elderly patients, "He added. Dr Sushil highlighted that the risk factors for CHD in the elderly are the same as in younger patients, including diabetes, Hypertension, Tobacco smoking, Dyslipidemia, obesity, family history and physical inactivity.
