Jammu, Nov 20: J&K Bank's Bathindi branch has landed in the net of State Vigilance Commission (SVC) as its rent agreement is allegedly fraudulent. Jamat Ali and his wife Naseema, who own the complex, which houses the bank, is situated under survey number 1 in Bathindi. But in the revenue record used for rent deed, the complex falls under survey number 134. "The SVC had directed the complainant and respondent (Jamat Ali) to appear before it on November 11," sources said, adding that the respondent, however, did not comply with the order. "The complex was actually constructed on state land with the help of some revenue officials," sources claimed. They said the landlord had executed an agreement with the JK Bank to open a branch in the complex. "But the landlord used documents of land under falling under survey no.134 of Dungiyaan, Bathindi, which is on his wife's name. But the building is constructed on survey no.1. There is one km distance between these Khasra numbers", sources said. The agreement, they said, was executed fraudulently with the JK Bank. "Several revenue officials were aware about the fraud committed by the landlord, but for want of hefty amount, they helped him to prepare and adjust documents of other Khasra number to give him ownership on state land," sources said. They said the matter was also brought into notice of Crime Branch some years ago, but to no avail. "The rent deed was executed in June 2012. After some time, the matter of fraudulently executed rent was brought into the notice of Inspector General of Crime Branch. But despite lapse of more than four years, nothing was done," sources added. They said that since the case is now pending before the SVC, it is expected that it would reach its logical conclusion. |
