Bunkers to be built in J&K along Pak border for civilians | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 21: Amid continuing cross-border shelling and firing by Pakistan, Jammu and Kashmir government today decided to construct bunkers along the borders which could be used by the locals for their safety. Chief Minister directed divisional authorities to initiate the process of identifying land for construction of bunkers for the border residents, an official spokesman said. She said Rs 50 crore are being earmarked for construction of bunker facilities in border areas. The decision came amidst continuing shelling and firing by Pakistani troops on civilian areas along the International Border and Line of Control. A number of civilians have died or have been injured in the shelling and firing and thousands have migrated to safer places. The Chief Minister today took a detailed appraisal from the Jammu divisional administration regarding the relief, rescue and rehabilitation plans devised by the respective district administrations in view of the cross border shelling going on for some time, the spokesman said. She was informed that an adequate rehabilitation plan has been put in place and spots have been identified where people would be relocated in case of emergencies, the spokesman said.
