BJP minister takes Rs 13 cr, car, flat as bribe from party MLC | Cash Hain To Aish Hain! | | PS Bali Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 21: A senior minister of ruling Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) allegedly took Rs 13 crore in cash as bribe from his party MLC to help him establish a business in the winter capital, sources told Early Times . They said the BJP cabinet minister helped the MLC to clear departmental hiccups to establish estates business in Jammu outskirts. "The MLC paid Rs 13 crores to the minister, purchased a luxury car and a flat for him in one of the posh colonies in Jammu city. After getting the kickbacks the minister called a senior bureaucrat to his home in the wee hours to settle the MLC's issue," the sources said. The cabinet minister, according to the sources, "pressurized" the bureaucrat to give nod for establishment of estate business in 'environmentally fragile' area in outskirts of Jammu city. Sources claimed that earlier the same bureaucrat had rejected the MLC's file but BJP cabinet minister, sources said, coerced him to give his nod and permission for the same. "The bureaucrat put his job at stake by signing the documents due to the pressure exerted by the minister. He (minister) also assured him (bureaucrat) that he will not be named in this process," said sources. If sources are to be believed, the minister in question has amassed over Rs 165 crore in one year by clearing departmental formalities for his clients. "The cabinet minister has acquired Rs 165 Cr from contractors, businessmen, engineers, police, doctors and other high profile people to get their illegal work done," said sources, adding that he had even managed to clear those cases, which had been facing government opposition since many decades," they added. |
