So-called calendar for RSD punctured | Separatists make last ditch attempts to keep themselves relevant | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 21: People coming out of their homes in large numbers across Kashmir on Saturday, Sundayand even on Monday has sent alarm bells ringing in the separatist camp. The desperate attempts of separatists to prolong the shutdown are not bearing any results as people have realized that these "dream merchants" are nothing more than a bunch of paid agents, which are out to implement the agenda of Pakistan in Kashmir. Exasperated by people defying the shutdown and chalo calls and puncturing the so-called protest calendar for Right to Self Determination (RSD), the separatists issued a statement stating: "Conscious and honorable nations can't afford to forget the sacrifices of their loved ones. Market rush, dense transport and hustle and bustle should not be mistaken as the sign of normalcy having returned to Kashmir." The separatists had announced relaxation for two days (Saturday and Sunday) after 133-day long shutdown but people came out even on Monday and public transport plied normally in many areas thus leaving the separatists, who claim to be the well wishers of Kashmiris, red faced. A Kashmir watcher said, "One wonders what these separatists have achieved by taking entire Kashmir as hostage for the past more than four months. Despite Kashmir and Kashmiris being pushed to wall and many people facing starvation these people are leaving no stone unturned to create uncertainty even in winters." He said, "Entire Kashmir is fed up of their useless calls and the disruption caused by their henchmen, who are out to rule the streets of Kashmir. They resort to stone pelting and enforce shutdown and threaten people." An analyst said, "People by defying their calls have challenged their hegemony and have turned them irrelevant. On the other hand they (separatists) are under tremendous pressure from their bosses sitting across the Line of Control (LoC) to turn Kashmir into a land where lawlessness would prevail and miscreants would rule. These people (separatists) describe India as oppressor but the fact of the matter is that they are the biggest oppressors as they have added to the miseries of their own people." He said, "During the past four months the private sector has been ruined, hundreds of young boys who were working with different companies have been left jobless and people from every walk of life have suffered." A politician said, "Kashmir unrest could have been over long back had the state and central government taken stern action against Geelani, Mirwaiz and Yasin Malik." He said, "These people are responsible for the mess Kashmir is in. They have openly acknowledged that they are the ones who have mobilized men to pelt stones and create havoc in Kashmir. Despite these people calling the shots government has not taken any steps to curb their activities. Government's policy to appease separatists has backfired. These people need to be reined in to prevent further damage." |
