Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 21: Playing under the patronage of Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) and working to appease him, an Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) has ordered aggrieved persons to approach MLA Akhnoor for water. According to sources, an AEE of Public Health Engineering (PHE) was called by an aggrieved person from Gandharwan Tanda in Akhnoor, to which AEE asked him to get consent from the MLA. "The aggrieved person was told to approach MLA-Akhnoor to get his consent. When the aggrieved person resisted, the AEE disconnected the call and asked MLA's men to talk to the aggrieved person," said sources, adding that AEE told the aggrieved person that he will not release water until he receives call from the MLA. Sources said that the aggrieved person challenged the integrity of the officer and asked whether he (AEE) is working for government or MLA. "The aggrieved person asked the AEE why he would approach the MLA if he can talk to the department directly," sources said and added that the aggrieved person after some time received call from the MLA office, directing him not to argue with AEE. Meanwhile, talking to Early Times, aggrieved person- Sunil Kumar said that they are facing huge shortage of water in their area since past four months and despite repeated requests no action was taken. "When today I called AEE, he instead of registering my complaint, directed me to approach MLA for his consent. I asked him why would I call an MLA, he is not PHE minister and you are suppose to entertain my request as you are government employee," said Sunil adding that there is a huge water nexus between MLA and PHE officials in the Akhnoor. "I shortly received a call from PA of MLA. His first query was why I argued with AEE. I told him that he was referring me to MLA, why should I approach MLA and for what they are holding government department," said Sunil, adding that now he is facing threat to his life. |
