Major fire tragedy averted | | | Early Times Report Kishtwar. Nov 22: A Major fire tragedy was today averted in heart of town at densely populated Abu Bakar Mohallah of W-7 Kishtwar after prompt action of alert youths led by Akther Dev and Tehseen Waza. As per the details available with "Early Times", the family members sleeping on first floor of the house smell the foul smell of smoke accordingly they went outside to check and found that smoke was coming out of the locked room. After noticing the smoke and fire, they immediately raised the alarm as a result of which the duo rushed to spot and after breaking the doors of room on fire ferried water by pressing into Tulu Pumps brought by some households in view that the fire tenders could not reach to spot due narrow by-lanes in the locality. After one hour long battle, the timely action of local youths including the aforesaid duo successfully doused the fire before its spreading to adjoining areas. The reports also said that the room was rented to one Chatroo based family which was not at home for the last few days and possible short circuit due to sudden 440 volt power supply perhaps damaged the transformer of the refrigerator resulting into fire which later spread in room. Residents and the owner of the house have hailed the prompt action of local youths whose presence of mind has averted a major tragedy. |
