Minister flouts own order, attaches BLW to favourable posting | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Nov 22: Even as the ruling coalition boasts of improving services offered to the rural people, a minister has a got a Block Level Worker (BLW) transferred from staff-starved Kalakote to a place where there was no such vacancy, only to please a political party. Of the nine posts of BLWs in Kalakote, four are vacant. However instead to taking measures to fill up the vacancies in the tehsil, the minister got one of the BLWs transferred to a more favourable posting. Officials said in doing so the minister has violated his own orders of banning any attachment. "A year ago he had issued orders that no attachment would be spared. Now to keep the political worker in good humour he got him attached near to home, though he was supposed to serve miles away," said a senior official in the Rural Development Department. The official said the minister took the decision even though he was informed that it would be violation of his own orders. The BLW has been transferred to a place where there is no such vacancy as all the 10 posts stand filled. The attachment of BLW has further affected the progress of public works being executed under various rural schemes like MNREGA. "This political attachment has only furthered the problems being faced by the people," the official said. When contacted, a senior official in the directorate of RDD Jammu declined to comment on the issue. "I cannot say anything, you better contact the minister," the official said. Despite repeated attempts the minister could not be contacted for comments. |
