Rajouri, Nov 22: Police have constituted a special investigation team (SIT) to work out the 'blind' murder case of a youth whose car was recovered from a deep gorge near here Monday. The SIT, formed by SSP Atul Sharma, would be headed by Manjakote SDPO Shaheen Mirza. On Monday, it was at about 8.30 am when a few locals informed police about the mishap of car (JK 11/3557) near a stone crusher on Rajouri-Darhal road. Police rushed to the spot and evacuated Wasim Raja Malik, son of Ghulam Qadir of Rajouri, to the district hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. He originally hailed from Darhal. While the car had rolled down into about 300 ft deep gorge, Qadir had received only minor injuries. He, however, had a cut mark on the neck, which raised suspicion about the cause of his death. Qadir's father and other family members have alleged that it was a murder and not a car accident. "One of their relatives is said to have informed police that he had also seen some youth sitting in the car. Had there been no foul play, those youth would have been among the victims," police sources said. Qadir was alleged to be a drug addict and drug peddler too. Sources, however, said he had mended his ways and was no more involved in any such activity. Sources alleged that his former accomplices had been forcing him to rejoin them. His refusal must have led to the tragedy, sources suspected. On the complaint of Qadir's father, police have booked six youth under sections 302 and 364 of RPC. Sources identified them as Wasim Akram, son of Mohammad Rafiq of Katarmal, Shabab Khan, son of Mohammad Yousuf of Darhal, Zahoor Bhat, Touseef, Imran and Irfan alias TT. It may be mentioned here that Qadir's younger brother Danish Malik was crushed to death by a speeding car near the district hospital here in July this year. |
