JAMMU, Nov 29: Islamabad: The outgoing Pakistan military chief today warned India that it would be dangerous to mistake his country's "restraint" over recent tensions in Kashmir for weakness, as he handed over power to his successor. General Raheel Sharif spoke at a ceremony welcoming the incoming chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa at a stadium at army headquarters in the garrison city of Rawalpindi, adjacent to the capital Islamabad. "Unfortunately, in recent months, increasing state terrorism in (Indian) occupied Kashmir, and India's aggressive steps have put the region's peace in danger," Sharif said. "I want to make it clear to India that considering our policy of restraint a weakness would be dangerous for her," he said. Continuing he said, "This is reality, that in South Asia, lasting peace and progress is impossible without solution of the Kashmir issue" and "for that, international community's special attention is necessary". Sharif only exhibited his frustration by saying what he said. And in the process he fooled himself. He willfully forgot what the Indian Army did to Pakistan in 1947-48, 1965, 1971 and 1999 and how the Indian Army defeated all the Pakistani evil designs thereafter. He forgot 1971, when the Indian Army entered deep inside Pakistan, inflicted a crushing defeat and split Pakistan with East Pakistan severing all ties with West Pakistan and becoming a sovereign Republic. Sharif said peace impossible without Kashmir resolution. Yes, he was partly right. Which Jammu & Kashmir? Not this part of J&K but other part of J&K, called Pakistan-occupied-Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan. And Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made it clear that peace with Pakistan was not possible without resolution of PoJK and Gilgit-baltistan and that India shall take all stepd to retrieve the illegally-occupied areas. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not Manmohan Singh. Nor is he Vajpayee. He is Madi and he made his intentions clear on the Independence Day. If Sharif or for that new military chief Bajwa feel that they can dictate terms to India or bully New Delhi, then obviously they are living in a fool's paradise. The best thing for Sharifs or Bajwas would be forget this part of J&K and ask their army to vacate the PoJK and Gilgit-Baltistan. The sooner they do it the batter. |
